Couples Therapy
Working together toward a stronger relationship
Every relationship goes through periods of difficulty. Whether you are navigating conflict, feeling disconnected, or facing a significant life transition together, couples therapy offers a structured, supported space to understand what is happening in your relationship and to develop more effective ways of communicating and connecting.
At Examined Life Psychology, couples therapy is grounded in evidence-based practice and tailored to the unique dynamics of your relationship. The work is collaborative and focused on creating meaningful, lasting change for both of you.
How couples therapy works
Couples therapy begins with building a clear picture of your relationship, its strengths, its patterns of difficulty, and what each of you is hoping to achieve through therapy. From there, sessions focus on developing the skills and understanding needed to shift unhelpful patterns and strengthen your connection.
We draw on the Gottman Method, one of the most extensively researched approaches to couples therapy, to guide our work together.
Couples therapy can help with
Communication difficulties and conflict
Emotional disconnection or intimacy concerns
Rebuilding trust following infidelity
Navigating major life transitions together
Parenting challenges and co-parenting difficulties
Navigating the challenges of separation
Is couples therapy right for you?
Couples therapy is most effective when both partners are willing to engage openly and work toward change. If you are unsure whether couples therapy is the right fit, we welcome you to get in touch to discuss your situation.
