Individual Therapy

A safe place to explore, understand, and change

Individual therapy is a dedicated space for you. Whether you are navigating a specific difficulty or a broader sense that something needs to change, therapy offers a private, unhurried space to turn toward your own inner world with curiosity and care.

Working collaboratively, we explore what has shaped your current difficulties, build practical strategies for change, and track your progress over time. Sessions are designed to help you gain clarity, process your experiences, and develop the skills to move forward.

Is individual therapy right for you?

Individual therapy is suited to anyone who feels ready to explore what is getting in the way of living the life they want. You do not need to be in crisis to seek support. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply aware that something needs to change, without being able to name exactly what. Others come with a specific concern they want to work through. Both are valid starting points.

Your first session

The first session is primarily an opportunity for us to get to know you. We will explore what has brought you to therapy, your history, and what you are hoping to get from the process. It is also a chance for you to get a sense of how we work and whether therapy feels like the right fit. While therapy sometimes involves exploring things that may feel uncomfortable, we work at a pace that feels manageable, and you will always be supported through the process.

How therapy progresses

Early sessions focus on building a clear picture of your experiences and what you would like to change. Together we will identify goals and begin to understand the patterns that are keeping you stuck. As therapy progresses, sessions become more focused on the deeper work, whether that involves processing past experiences, developing new skills, or shifting longstanding patterns of thinking and behaviour. Progress is rarely linear, and the pace of therapy is shaped by your needs and goals.

How long does therapy take?

There is no single answer to how long therapy takes. Some people find that a focused course of sessions is enough to address a specific concern. Others engage in longer term work to explore more deeply rooted patterns or ongoing difficulties. We review progress regularly so that therapy remains purposeful and responsive to where you are at.

The therapeutic relationship

Research consistently shows that the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the most important factors in whether therapy is effective. Our aim is to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and safe enough to do the work. If something is not feeling right, we want to know. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your experience matters to us.
